Not at all! Our lessons are designed for everyone—from complete beginners to advanced surfers looking to improve.

We recommend wearing something to surf in, as well as bring along a towel, sunblock (reef-safe), and water to hydrate for after the lesson. Lessons include all equipment (boards, reef shoes, and rash guards). You may even want to bring some dry clothes to change into after the lesson.

Surf lessons are located in Kihei at Kalama Park (across the street from the 76 Gas Station and the little popular Kihei Caffe).

Lessons are available Monday through Saturday in the mornings. All surf schools on Maui's south side are closed on Sundays and holidays due to Maui County business permit rules. For the best water conditions, we recommend booking as early in the morning as possible, as winds tend to pick up later, creating choppier, more challenging, and less safe conditions.

We recommend booking early for peak travel seasons (spring, summer, and winter breaks) as lesson availability can book up weeks in advance.

Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your lesson to allow time for parking, check-in, and applying sunscreen.

Yes! A water photographer is available during lessons. They work as an independent company and will coordinate payment and photo delivery with you after the session.

Absolutely! Bring your loved ones along to cheer you on. There’s a large grassy area with a great view where they can relax and watch from the shore.

Kalama Park features convenient on-site parking, public restrooms and showers, a walking path, and a playground. Nearby, you'll find restaurants, food trucks, and cafes to enjoy before and after your lesson.

Typically, equipment is only available during your scheduled lesson. If you’d like to continue surfing, let us know, and we’ll check for availability. Most people find that a two-hour lesson is the perfect amount of time in the water.

There's no specific age requirement. But we recommend private lessons for children under 10 for safety and to maximize their experience. Otherwise, children under 10 must have a parent in the water with them.

Yes, plenty of parking is available near the surf van.

We strongly recommend renting a car to explore the island. However, if you’re staying nearby, walking or using a rideshare service like Uber is also an option.

If your cruise ship docks in Kahului, we’re approximately 25 minutes away by car.

Yes! Contact us, and we’ll be happy to assist you with purchasing a gift card.

Payment is required at booking. If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. Cancellations incur a $25 fee, and no refunds are provided for cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or for no-shows. If we must cancel due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we’ll reschedule your lesson or provide a full refund.

Our surf lessons are located in the Kihei/Wailea area, which is a popular spot for accommodations. Whether you're looking for a cozy condo or a luxurious resort, there are plenty of options nearby. Guests choose to stay all over the island, so wherever you stay, you'll have easy access to Maui's incredible sights and experiences!

Yoga is an incredible complement to surfing. Whether you're stretching before paddling out, unwinding after a surf session, or staying in shape between surf trips, yoga can elevate your surfing experience.

If you’re interested in joining yoga classes during your time on Maui, contact us. We’re happy to recommend trusted studios in the Kihei and Wailea area—close to where we teach our surf lessons.
