Where Is The Best Place To Take Surf Lessons in Kihei

21

Do you want to learn to surf?  Kalama Park is the best beginner-friendly location in the Kihei area.  There are important things you need to know before paddling out to catch a wave and getting surf lessons is the best way to save yourself a lot of time trying to figure out all the details on your own.

Where to Take Surf Lessons in Kihei

Surf lessons are located in central Kihei at Kalama Park.  The park has gentle waves making it one of the best places for families, kids, and beginners to learn to surf and progress your skills.

When To Get Surf Lessons

Surf lessons are Monday–Saturday in the mornings and we typically recommend the earlier the better due to the wind that tends to pick up late morning.

Lessons are two hours long, and all equipment is included (boards, reef shoes, rash guards).

What To Wear And Bring To Surf Lessons

Surf lessons include surfboards, reef shoes, and rash guard tops.  You just need to wear something to surf in (such as your swimsuit/yoga pants for ladies, and board shorts for men).

We also recommend bringing sunblock, a towel to dry off, and water to hydrate after surfing.   You may also want to bring some dry clothes to change into after your lesson.

How Many Surf Lessons Should You Get

It’s up to you!  You will learn the FUN-damentals of surfing during your first lesson.   However, it’s true that more time in the water is what you need to continue to progress your surf skills.

If you are interested in continuing to progress your surf skills, sign up for our 3 Day Surf Progression package (each day is a two-hour lesson).  You can surf each day back to back, or space your lessons out over the week.

What Is At Kalama Park And The Surrounding Area

There is on-site parking, public showers, restrooms, a playground, and a walking path.  Across the street from the park are cute cafes, food trucks, restaurants, and fun shops that sell fun Hawaiian trinkets and products by local artists.  Bring your family and friends to surf with you or to watch!

Book Your Surf Lessons Now!

We always recommend booking in advance (especially for the peak family travel seasons of spring, summer, and winter breaks) as availability can book up weeks in advance.
